‘The cognitive process of combining fragmented sensory inputs into a unified, coherent and meaningful representation of objects or events.’
Perceptual Integration combines Manual therapy/massage, Functional Integration and Intuitive knowing with Somatic listening. Together, we address pain, loss, transition and curiosity. The intention is to meet mechanical stress and experience and within the context of our greater knowing.
Perceptual Integration
- Manual therapy is massage that observes function and is attuned to somatic structures.
- Functional Integration attends pain and tension through attuned touch, observation of postural patterns, and differentiation.
- Somatic intuition listens to physical sensations and emotional responses.
Physical touch witnesses tension, holding pattern, and held experience. This is an intuitive approach with an intention that honours what is happening within the body in that moment, as well as any influences present from other relevant moments. Through integration of the present and other thoughtfulnesses, we embody more of the full nature and posture of our being.
We listen together and meet the physical being as is appropriate to the situation; we meet the situation as it presents. You and I are partners, working together with the intention to understand more deeply into the physical and authentic experience.
I bring education and experience to the conversation; education and experience that exists both within and outside of ordinary sensory experience. I offer impartial logic and have a feeling for what is true. My hands on approach is a deep cellular listening, attuned to somatic structures, and where we physiologically track breath, postural habits, emotional and physical holding patterns, accessing neurological-emotional states and holding these experiences. Being in two places at the same time, here and now, also walking alongside the other experiences presenting in the tissues.
Perceptual Integration session
Manual therapy/Massage and Functional Integration are two ways of listening into the physical pain/injury/posture. Each allow for mechanical cohesion and postural/fascial integration and differentiation. Our approach meets how the situation presents.
Functional Integration
Functional Integration is an intuitive manual Feldenkrais technique; slow movement that directs our attention to unconscious postural holding patterns, allows for differentiation, fascial support and self direction for a neurologically reoriented experience of the self in relation to our environment. Our internal and external experience is available to our understanding and alterable by ourselves through our knowledge. With this inner knowledge, there is capacity and freedom to choose. Essential thinking occurs within movement.
Manual Therapy / Massage
Manual Therapy techniques are hands on, combined Osteopathic methods, informed by massage, and attends visceral vascular, cranio sacral, neural, fascial congruency and bone articulation.
